John H. Alcorn was born September 27, 1903 in Bourbon City, Kentucky. He had 8 sisters and 2 brothers. One of his sisters married Ruby's brother Davin "Sam."

After he and Ruby were divorced John married May Middleton and had 2 more daughters.

John worked at various factories (one for hemp rope manufacturing). At age 57 he stepped on a live electrical wire and was electrocuted in 1960.

John's mother, Mary Wolfe Alcorn is buried in in the Songer Cemetery.
