Pearl Redmond, the second child of John and Jessie Redmond was born in Fairmount, Illinois February 28, 1880. She attended Bethel School.
One of her daughters Mabel Schutz died at age 19 of rheumatic fever. Pearl not only reared her 7 children, but also provided a home for her two grandchildren, Robert and Lura Mae Schutz after their young mother, wife of Sam Schutz, died.
Pearl was best known during her lifetime for her poetry and her butter. She had a "butter and egg route" in Danville for many years and she milked from 1 to 8 cows twice a day until she was well into her 80's.
