Lizzie Bolton

William H. Redmond and Elizabeth Bolton

Elizabeth was well educated and took it upon herself to write her thoughts for the Commercial News of Danville as well as for another newspaper called the Republican Press. She wrote: "In these degenerate times what is in greater demand than prayers and sermons of the most pointed and pungent character?" Her writing followed this model of being pointed and pungent in character. She was most distressed at the decadence she saw all around her and called her fellow citizens to repentance and prayer. She always signed her writing "Lizzie"
